Looking Through Ms. Rusch's Eyes
I am Tammy Rusch, the fourth grade teacher at Honor Elementary. Since attending Herman Elementary, my dream has been to come back “home” and follow in the many footsteps of the teachers who have made a difference in my life. I remember learning basic math facts with Mrs. Oechsner, memorizing the states and capitals with Mrs. Scharf, creating a mummy project for Mrs. Pieper, running the mile for Mr. Herrmann, editing my writing with Mrs. Kunz, and solving algebra with Mr. Gouff. More importantly, they taught me so much more than academics. Through their actions and relationships, they showed that respect, character, and motivation are truly what push an individual to his/her fullest potential! So, thank you! Thank you for always believing in me and encouraging me to go above and beyond in everything I do. Thank you for accepting me for who I am and allowing my strengths to shine through in the classroom. YOU are why I am teaching today!
I received my dual degree in Elementary and Special Education from the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh. Prior to my transition to the HNR District, I have taught English Language Arts at Riverside Middle School (Watertown) and special education at Beaver Dam Middle School (Beaver Dam).
Overall, my greatest joy in teaching is forming strong relationships with parents, guardians, students and staff. I strongly feel that it is the small, but very meaningful moments that make a difference. Just like my teachers have done, I hope to change my students’ lives and see “life” from a different perspective.
