Ms. K

About Me:

My name is Kayla Kasuboski. Ms. Kasuboski can be quite a mouthful, so I usually have students
call me Ms. K. I went to UW Madison and majored in both education and special education. I live in
Mayville with my family. I have three dogs. Yup, three of them. My oldest dog is turning ten this
year. He is a small black dog. Then I have Nellie. She is a rust colored two year old AussieDoodle.
The newest edition is our puppy Sasha. She is a mostly black BorderDoodle. She was born in May so
still very much a puppy.

I will be your student’s math, science, and STEM teacher. We are going to have a blast working
collaboratively to solve challenging problems this year. We are now at the intermediate school
and a few more responsibilities will be expected of your student. They will transition between my
room and the other fifth grade classroom multiple times throughout the day.
Grading: As was done in elementary school, we use standard based grading. This means that they are not
getting their grade based on how many points they got on the test. Additionally, their homework
will have no impact on their grades. Students are graded based on how well they understand the
concept or state standard. We will be using a 1, 2, 3, 4 scale. Below you will see a graphic to help
you understand what those numbers mean. What you really need to know is, if your student comes
home with 3s they are getting what traditionally would be an A.
